Coffee in the United States is served by three kinds of places: national chains with drive-thrus and mobile ordering, independent neighborhood cafes that double as a workspace or a meeting spot, and specialty shops that roast their own beans or buy single-origin lots and brew them by pour-over, espresso or cold brew. Most open between 6 and 7 a.m. on weekdays, slightly later on weekends, and the busiest hour is the commute rush before 9. A drip coffee runs a few dollars, espresso drinks and specialty pours more, and tipping a dollar or a percentage on the card reader is customary but not required. Nearly every cafe offers free Wi-Fi, though some limit laptop seating at peak times or on weekends, and outlets are often the scarce resource.

The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 8 am–8 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. Highland is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Highland is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

This beer and sandwich place in highland was surprisingly good. The staff is friendly and knows their products, and will give you a few samples to help you decide on a beer. I like sours, if they are good. They had two on tap. I tasted them and ordered one. My wife and I split the chicken pesto sandwich. They cut it in half, and brought two plates. The food, the staff, and the atmosphere were all top notch, and better than expected.

Super busy Memorial Day late morning but the staff handled it so well!! The food and coffee were delicious, and we loved the option to sit outside. Can’t wait to come back.

Underground Coffee & Ales is one of those rare places that becomes more than just somewhere you grab a drink or coffee ,it becomes part of your memories and your story. I’ve been coming here many times over the years, and the very first time was actually to visit this mystery man… who has now become my husband, which makes this place even more special to me. I still laugh thinking about drunkenly stumbling up the stairs after an amazing night filled with great staff, delicious food, good music, and an atmosphere that just makes you feel comfortable and welcomed. Whether you’re sitting outside soaking in Beacon’s energy or tucked inside enjoying the cozy vibe, this place has a way of making people want to stay awhile. The coffee is excellent, the ales and drink selections are always on point, and the overall environment feels authentic, creative, and community driven. Beyond just being a great establishment, they truly bring something positive to the Beacon community and create a space where all different kinds of people feel comfortable gathering together. This is genuinely a great place for all ages at all times of day, whether you want your morning coffee, an afternoon hangout

Service was amazing, the girl handled the whole place by herself. She made the coffee/teas, all drinks while serving everyone fast with a friendly demeanor. However, the food was par, not at all at her level. She deserves to serve better food. Burnt dry eggs, pancakes looked amazing tasted like boxed pancakes with baby food on top.. mushy nastiness. Do not order the biscuits and gravy, it its literally 1 frozen biscuit microwaved to hardness and smothered in nasty weird something I wouldn't call gravy. Was it ham pieces inside not sausage? I'm not sure what the taste was but I am having a hard time believing people like the food here. I really believe the server was so sweet and good they just gave it a good rating cause she made it a fun stop. Food looked good, but was far from good.

Great meal with my wife. She thoroughly enjoyed Her burger, and my strip steak with jalapeno cream paired with roasted brussel sprouts, mashed potatoes and crispy onions was outstanding. I had a tasty IPA as well.
